Electrohydrodynamic Drying in Agribusiness: Literature Review (full-text)

In agribusiness, drying is a unitary operation that optimizes the production and preservation of products and raw materials. Drying is performed through different traditional methods, one of the most recently studied is the electrohydrodynamic drying EHD which uses an electric field that allows decreasing the processing time thus increasing the drying speed of raw materials and consuming less energy. In this article, a review was carried out through Scopus using a search equation with the keywords “Electrohydrodynamic drying,” “food” and “AGRI” which resulted in a total of 145 articles; which were analyzed through in-depth reading, analyzing aspects such as year, author, keywords, countries, quartile, journal, relationship with agroindustry, mathematical models used and applications in agro-industrial products, this analysis was complemented with the application of Vantage Point software through co-occurrence matrices and cluster analysis. Recent applications were found in Carrot, Chicken, Sea Cucumber, Goji Berry, Peppermint Leaf, Quince, Potato, Blueberry, Aquatic Products, Banana Slices, Grape Pomace, Blueberry, Apple, Mushroom, Wheat, and Mushroom Slices, mathematical models with application in EHD drying were also found, such as Henderson and Pabis, Page, Logarithmic, Quadratic, Newton/Lewis, Diffusion and exponential.

Two-decade bibliometric overview of publications in the Journal of Knowledge Management

The purpose of this paper is to accomplish a bibliometric analysis, investigate the underlying knowledge structure, founding and development, and evolution of the Journal of Knowledge Management (JKM) through its articles published between 1997 and 2020. A total of 1,346 research papers from JKM were selected and VantagePoint® software was used to generate bubble maps, auto-correlation maps, and matrix maps through techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and natural language processing (NLP). The analysis gives insights about the foundation of knowledge structure, its evolution and the development of JKM. The systematic mapping of research illustrates topics emerging as new offshoots, global favourites, saturated and plateaued and reached academic maturity. The USA, the UK, Australia, Spain, Italy, China, Canada, Germany, and France have contributed the most to JKM. This paper provides a robust roadmap for future research investigation of JKM. The authors humbly admit the possibility of overlooking some research papers while evaluating and filtering the database of JKM. The research outcome summarizes 23 years, subject to information retrieval from archival files.This research is a detailed bibliometric analysis explaining paradigm shifts in the body of knowledge of JKM. The bibliometric outcomes can act as beacons for future researchers and academicians to revisit the current trends that shape the domain of knowledge management, particularly for the JKM audience with a focus on contemporary topics of research interest. This is a unique endeavour to accomplish a systematic bibliometric analysis of the JKM for two decades, offering insights about its structural body of knowledge through an overview of the chronology of scholarly development in the field of knowledge management.

Worldwide trends on molar incisor and deciduous molar hypomineralisation research: a bibliometric analysis over a 19-year period

The goal of this study was to identify the worldwide trends in scientific evidence and gaps in knowledge regarding molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) and deciduous molar hypomineralisation/hypomineralised second primary molars (DMH/HSPM), exploring the contribution of authors and countries, possible etiological factors and proposed treatments, in order to guide future research in the area. Searches were conducted in MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Lilacs/BBO, Embase and Google Scholar. Studies employing the terms MIH, DMH/HSPM and their linguistic variations were included. The following data were extracted: title, authors, year and journal of publication and first author’s affiliation country. Studies were categorized according to topic, dentition, study design, etiological factors and types of treatments. Categories were analysed in relation to their distribution, co-occurrence, cross-correlation and/or autocorrelation. Results Five hundred and three studies were included. The most published authors were Manton D (n = 47), de Souza JF (n = 22) and Ghanim A (n = 22) and four main collaboration clusters have been identified. Most of the studies were conducted on permanent dentition (MIH) (87.4%); with observational design (57.2%). The “European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry” was the most published journal (13.3%) and a significant increase in the number of publications was observed in the last decade. MIH was most studied in relation to prevalence/incidence, systemic factors involved in its aetiology and treatment with composite restorations, while a gap in knowledge was observed for extraction and sealants. Less studies were published on DMH/HSPM and most of them evaluated risk factors or prevalence/incidence. The gap of knowledge was observed in relation to treatments and patient’s quality of life. This bibliometric review provided a comprehensive overview of research in MIH and DMH/HSPM over the past 19 years. Within the limitations of the present study, the following conclusions can be drawn: global trends point to an increasing peak of scientific publication, especially in the last decade, while there is a shortage of clinical studies on treatments, mainly evaluating tooth extractions. Finally the multifactorial nature should be further explored, considering environmental and systemic factors together.

Smart revolution and metrology: A longitudinal science mapping approach (FULL-TEXT)

The aim of this study is two-fold. Firstly, it attempts to identify and visualize evolutionary pathways and scientific roadmaps focusing on the interplay between smart manufacturing and metrology as a research field. Secondly, it seeks to identify and visualize technological trends in this research field, i.e., the most productive themes, relevant thematic networks, and strategic diagrams based on the most cited articles in each theme for different time slices. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to assess all peer-reviewed documents indexed in the Web of Science database covering the focused research field over the 2010–2020 time frame. Based on a bibliographic data collection of 396 documents, it was possible to identify and visualize a longitudinal science map over this period, highlighting digital technology trends and identifying shifts in the boundaries of the focused emerging digital technologies applied to metrology and vice-versa, by revealing their interactions and convergence.

Scientific collaboration analysis of Brazilian postgraduate programs in information science (full-text Spanish)

Due to the growing interest in metric studies on the scientific collaboration of national postgraduate studies, together with the theoretical and applied bases of Information Science supported by metric studies of information, it became relevant to identify how scientific collaborations occur in postgraduate programs in Information Science. The research method included the use of bibliometrics and social network analysis as an information analysis technique. The sample involved 519 articles from 421 permanent professors working in 27 Postgraduate Programs (PP), from 2013 to 2018. The results achieved included the elaboration of a set of indicators that denote scientific collaboration activities; In short, interpersonal relations networks are relevant to the internationalization of the Information Science area, and internationalization is fundamental for the development of programs. It was concluded that the results achieved can contribute to the improvement of the PPG and the National Postgraduate System, by maximizing the understanding of collaboration in Information Science.

Policy interactions with research trajectories: The case of cyber-physical convergence in manufacturing and industrials

From the early 2010s, policymakers and firms in advanced industrial economies began introducing approaches to systemically exploit manufacturing and industrial data using the notion of cyber-physical convergence. Three innovation concepts have been especially highlighted: Smart Manufacturing, the Industrial Internet and Industrie 4.0. In parallel, academics have employed these concepts in numerous ways to advance their work. Despite this broad interest, precise definition and delineation of the cyber-physical convergence research domain have received little attention. Also missing is systematic knowledge on the interactions of these concepts with research trajectories. This paper fills these gaps by operationalising a newly constructed definition of convergence, and delineating the associated research domain into five data-centric capabilities: Monitoring, Analytics, Modelling and Simulation, Transmission and Security. A bibliometric analysis of the domain is then performed for 2010–2019. There are three findings. First, Analytics and Security have assumed strategic positions within the domain, coinciding with a “strategic turn” in policy. Second, backed by concerted policy and funding efforts, growth in Chinese scientific output has outpaced key competitors, including the U.S. and Germany. Finally, the patterns of promoting their works in terms of the three concepts differ significantly amongst U.S.-, Germany- and China-based authors, which mirrors the different policy discourses prevalent in those countries.

A methodology for identifying breakthrough topics using structural entropy

This research uses link prediction and structural-entropy methods to predict scientific breakthrough topics. Temporal changes in the structural entropy of a knowledge network can be used to identify potential breakthrough topics. This has been done by tracking and monitoring a network’s critical transition points, also known as tipping points. The moment at which a significant change in the structural entropy of a knowledge network occurs may denote the points in time when breakthrough topics emerge. The method was validated by domain experts and was demonstrated to be a feasible tool for identifying scientific breakthroughs early. This method can play a role in identifying scientific breakthroughs and could aid in realizing forward-looking predictions to provide support for policy formulation and direct scientific research. Empirical Panorama: Renewable Energy Cooperation Between Brazil and India (book chapter)

This chapter, Empirical Panorama: Renewable Energy Cooperation Between Brazil and India, which presents the main results obtained by the research and is divided into five sections. The first one presents data on the international acts signed jointly by Brazil and India concerning renewable energy. It also provides an analysis of documents resulting from the South-South meetings mainly regarding the participation of these two countries in multilateral groups. The second section tackles the renewable energy policies that have been established by Brazil and India in a period of over forty years. The third section brings the results of the scientific and technological mapping of Brazil and India based on the analysis of scientific publications. Furthermore, the patents filed by Brazil and India in renewables were mapped and a comparison was made between the scientific and technological production of both countries showing the main partnerships established between them. The fourth section presents the competitiveness indicators of the two countries based on the analysis of the competitiveness reports in a ten-year period: the indicators were compiled, compared and analyzed to identify elements that could promote or limit cooperation between Brazil and India. The fifth section presents the results of the primary research carried out with professionals from the academic, technical and political areas who work in one or more of these areas: energy, renewable energy, politics, international cooperation and international relations. All the data presented in the empirical panorama refer to the time period from 1945 to 2017/2018.

Impact of teacher education abroad in international co-authorship: a study of Federal University of São Carlos’s scientifics production indexed in the Web of Science (FULL-TEXT)

Metric studies on internationalization, especially indicators of co-authorship, present challenges regarding the collection, representativeness, and reliability of the data measuring the impacts of international mobility. Aiming to contribute to the understanding of scientific collaboration initiatives, the present research’s objective was to investigate the relationship between outside teacher education, represented by the completion of a doctoral degree and post-doctoral internship, and international collaboration, identified by the international co-authorships in institutional scientific output. The research method was the exploratory case study, and the case unit was the Federal University of São Carlos. The Lattes Platform and the Web of Science were used as sources of information, and the sample analyzed comprised 12,787 scientific articles and 1,915 Lattes resumés. It was found that 1,850 teachers have doctoral or post-doctoral education (96.6%) and, of these, 632 graduated abroad (33.1%). Regarding the scientific output, 3,487 of the 12,787 articles were published in international co-authorship (27.3%). From the scientific output in international co-authorship, indicators on the groups of teachers with and without education abroad were analyzed. Among the indicators developed, 8.43 articles per teacher were identified for the group with education abroad, while in the group without education abroad, 4.26 articles were identified per teacher. The results demonstrate a positive relationship between doctoral or post-doctoral education abroad with international co-authorships, contributing to institutional internationalization.

Scientific mapping of stem cells associated with Chagas disease : A bibliometric analysis

The objective is to map the scientific publications of research involving stem cells associated with Chagas disease. We used bibliometric and social network analysis techniques to analyze scientific data collected in the Web of Science. Most of the articles were published in 2014 and 2015. The organizations and authors with the largest number of publications and research collaborations are located in america, specifically in Brazil and the United States, which are responsible for 62% of all publications. FIOCRUZ, UFRJ, and Hospital São Rafael together account for approximately 55% of the studies related to stem cells associated with Chagas disease. Most of the studies focus on developing new strategies for treating Chagas disease using stem cells. This suggests that the research agenda in this area is still under development, highlighting the importance of continuing to pursue existing research avenues and expanding the range of strategies for the treatment of the disease.
