Characteristics and popular topics of latest research into the effects of air particulate matter on cardiovascular system by bibliometric analysis

In recent years, many epidemiological and toxicological studies have investigated the adverse effects of air particulate matter (PM) on the cardiovascular system. However, it is difficult for the researchers to have a timely and effective overall command of the latest characteristics and popular topics in such a wide field. Continue reading Characteristics and popular topics of latest research into the effects of air particulate matter on cardiovascular system by bibliometric analysis

A citation and profiling analysis of pricing research from 1980 to 2010

This paper identifies the body of literature related to pricing that exists in 20 marketing or business journals contained in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) between January 1980 and June 2010. During this 30-year period we found over 38,800 citations were made to 1945 articles that dealt with some aspect of pricing. Continue reading A citation and profiling analysis of pricing research from 1980 to 2010

Knowledge map of artemisinin research in SCI and Medline database

Artemisinin was first extracted from the herb Artemisia annua which has been used for many centuries in Chinese traditional medicine as a treatment for fever and malaria. It has been given the 2011 Lasker-DeBakey clinical medical research award. In this paper, knowledge map of artemisinin research was drawn to provide some information for global researchers interested in artemisinin and its relevant references. Continue reading Knowledge map of artemisinin research in SCI and Medline database

Scholarly Communities Of Research In Multiple Criteria Decision Making: A Bibliometric Research Profiling Study

Electronic journal databases allow efficient retrieval and processing of bibliometric data, making possible enhanced literature reviews called research profiling studies. We have conducted such a research profiling study of Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) using the ISI Web of Science. Continue reading Scholarly Communities Of Research In Multiple Criteria Decision Making: A Bibliometric Research Profiling Study

Use of Patent Applications as a Tool for Technology Development Investigations on Ethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass in Brazil

The growing concerns regarding the future of global energy supplies have encouraged R&D in alternative sources to complement the global energy matrix. Brazil has earned notoriety as one of the largest producers of ethanol and biomass. Continue reading Use of Patent Applications as a Tool for Technology Development Investigations on Ethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Biomass in Brazil

Trends of the International Plant Root Exudates Studies based on Bibliometrical Analysis

In recent decades, the root exudates and applied research in ecology has made significant progress. In particular, more and more attentions were paid to the role and functions of the root exudates of forest vegetation in ecological restoration and reconstruction process. Using the databases of SCIE, CPCIS, CCR, and IC as the sources, we retrieved and analyzed the articles on the root exudates (including original articles, conference abstracts and proceedings, as well as reviews). Continue reading Trends of the International Plant Root Exudates Studies based on Bibliometrical Analysis

Combined biological and health effects of electromagnetic fields and other agents in the published literature

Electromagnetic field (EMF) radiation exerts both stand-alone and combined effects on biological systems. The present study examines the scope of the combined effects; i.e., identify effects on biological systems from combined exposure to electromagnetic fields/radiation and at least one other agent. Only articles in which the presence of EMF had some effect (beneficial or adverse) on the biological system were selected. Continue reading Combined biological and health effects of electromagnetic fields and other agents in the published literature

On the Assignment of Biopharmaceutical Patents

This study focuses on the patent assignments for six selected biopharmaceuticals: filgrastim, infliximab, somatropin, imiglucerase, betainterferon and factor VIII. These very expensive proteins are not currently produced in Brazil, and their production would enhance Brazilian technological capacity. Accordingly, we characterized the current profiles of the patent holders for these proteins. Continue reading On the Assignment of Biopharmaceutical Patents

Technological Forecasting on Phytotherapics Development in Brazil

The prospective analysis is presented as an important tool to identify the most relevant opportunities and needs in research and development from planned interventions in innovation systems.   This study chose Phyllanthus niruri, known as “stone break” to
describe the knowledge about the specie, by using biotechnological forecasting through the software Vantage Point. It can be seen a considerable increase in studies on Phyllanthus niruri in recent years and that there are patents about this plant since twenty-five years ago. India was the country that most carried out research on the specie, showing interest, mainly in studies of hepatoprotection, antioxidant and anti-cancer activities. Brazil is in the second place, with special interest for anti-tumor studies. Given the identification of the Brazilian groups that exploit the species it is possible to mediate partnerships and cooperation aiming to help on the implementing of the Program of Herbal medicines (phytotherapics) in Brazil.
